We have retained engineering documents going back to the early days of the USA space program in the late 1950’s. We are sharing these documents to show what happened at the time, what we learned, and what we are still using today.
Jim Scott Sr, a young sales engineer working for Voi-Shan, now Alcoa, developed several fitting systems and patents.
We are posting these historical documents as references for the benefit of young mechanical engineers interested in the history of space flight systems.
The order of the Posts is:
- Post 1 – “VOI-SHAN reports on Scott Connector System“
- Post 2 – “The Conical Seal by Voi-Shan” that includes the Convair-Aeronautics “Interim Report No. AN59MD3008-1” … “to improve production tube flaring methods and equipment for high pressure helium service.”
- Post 3 – “Conical Boss Seal”
- Post 4 – “VOI-SHAN – SCOTT CONNECTOR SYSTEM Customer Drawings“
- Post 5 – “Recommended Assembly and Installation Procedures“
- Post 6 – “Wyle Laboratories Test Report – March 31, 1959“
- Post 7 – “Weight Study Chart“
- Post 8 – “Scott Connector System Tool Design“
