Purdue Space Program

Purdue Space Program (PSP) Hybrids is a student-led rocketry team with the goal of launching a student researched and developed hybrid propellant rocket at the FAR competition. They prioritize giving students hands-on learning experiences to help them make the next giant leap in engineering.

Current Rocket “Plumbing”

SECO seals are being used by the PSP – Liquids project to prevent leaks in a testing system that experiences rapid pressure changes of up to 4000 PSIA at cryogenic temperatures. This is an effort to test the student-designed, student-built propellant tank pressure control system, dubbed ‘Bang-Bang‘ due to its use of a valve assembly controlled by a Bang-Bang circuit. These SECO seals effectively limit nitrogen leakage from the system during testing, and, in doing so, protect the integrity of the data collected during these mission-critical tests.

Additionally, SECO seals were used on PSP Liquids’ last rocket, “Boomie Zoomie B”, which broke a collegiate rocketry record by launching twice in one weekend!
